Prague – based sales agent Filmotor acquired the world rights for Laure Portier´s feature documentary debut SOY LIBRE. The film celebrated the world premiere this July in Cannes parallel section ACID (France’s Association for the Diffusion of Independent Cinema). The international premiere is confirmed at Documentary Competition of Zurich IFF.
SOY LIBRE is a portrait of Arnaud, a little brother of Laure, director. She followed him from his adolescent through his growing up process, mapping the decade of his life. His sister refused to tell a story of his resignation and social injustice but rather she found an original way to tell the story of an individual´s life without judgments and criticism.
“This is a powerful story of an individual in a society fighting and searching for the way to live free in spite of all hardships and burdens that he carries from the childhood, all traumas in their complexity… It is a great pleasure to welcome the debut of Laure in our line up where it fits so well. It is a powerful story and also a great cinema.” Says Michaela Cajkova on the film.
SOY LIBRE is produced by Gaelle Jones for Perspective Films (Filmotor already represent their multi awarded documentary feature THERE WILL BE NO MORE NIGHT by Eleonore Weber) in co-production with Need Production based in Belgium. The Belgian premiere was held in Brussels International Film Festival last week.
